XPS downstream line with pre-trimming

Pre-trimming and flying knife

The XPS endless strand is pre-edged by up to 200mm in width by our milling station. Then the endless strand is cut exactly to size by the flying knife to up to 14 length plates per minute. Due to our special handling technology with vacuum, the still relatively soft foam is not damaged by upper pressure or even changed in its cell structure.

Cooling and handling by paternoster

Since the two production halls are located at two different heights, we use our paternoster not only for cooling but also as an intelligent handling system to compensate for the differences in height. At full production capacity, 64 long panels can be cooled and handled simultaneously in 32 compartments.

Surface treatment with following thermobonding in bypass

After overcoming the differences in hall height, the plates can be milled at this station either on both sides or only the top side for two-layer welding. We also make it possible to slit the insulation boards on one or both sides.

In case welding is required, the plates are passed laterally through the thermobonding according to the planner. Via the self-locking angle transfer the two-layer sheets are guided back into the extrusion line. As an additional option, the sheets can also be welded offline, while the extrusion of monolayer sheets can continue undisturbed.

Final processing of the longitudinal and transverse edges

The up to 400mm thick panels are finished at the last station. The longitudinal and transverse edges are profiled either with flat edge, step rebate or tongue and groove. On request, our sawing systems can cut the panels in half to form short panels. After the bundle stacking station, the bundles are transferred to the following packaging line.
